Museum Open House

Who: NPS, GGNPC and the public!

When: Sunday and Monday, July 17 and July 18, 2016 from 10am to 4pm

Where: Park Archives & Museum Offices

Bldg. 667 McDowell Ave. (in the Presidio)

Why: Visit where San Francisco, Marin, and San Mateo history is stored and cared for.

What: See objects and archives from the GGNRA's permanent museum collection, discover items recently recovered from park lands, learn the "dangers" of working with historic materials, hear about excavation sites, have the opportunity to speak with museum staff about your favorite history subject, and learn the best ways to care for your own historic materials.

Special Instructions:

  • The archives facility is located on the Presidio of San Francisco in building 667, near the intersection of McDowell Avenue and Cowles Street, off of Lincoln Boulevard in one of the 1914 historic brick stable buildings. The building is accessible through the ramp and door on the long side of the building facing the Bay.

Keep an eye out for monthly open house invitations. We'll be hosting these in as many areas of our park as possible in hopes that we can all learn more about each other and what we do. If you would like more information or would like to sign up to host an open house in your workplace, contact Sintia Morfin!
