Meet us at the top of Hawk Hill for hawk watching at the Pacific States’ biggest raptor migration.  Golden Gate Raptor Observatory director Allen Fish will talk about raptor identification, citizen science and the history of the GGRO, as the first hybrid program of the Parks Conservancy and the National Park Service. Bring binoculars and layered clothing.

  

Natural Resources

1:30 - 3:30pm. 1062 Fort Cronkhite, Sausalito, CA 94965.

Join us for an office-warming party at the new Natural Resources building. Go on a guided walk to see restoration in action, look at specimens under the microscope, and touch and smell native plants. Some spooky (and not-so-spooky) games and surprises await you! Our mocktail bar will be open, no IDs required.

 

Archeology

Come check out where the archeological collections of the park are stored and get your hands dirty screening through artifact rich soils. Learn how to take those found artifacts through the process of cleaning, classifying, and cataloging.

 

Driving Directions to Fort Cronkhite

From San Francisco:

• Take HWY 101 N and exit on Alexander Avenue
• Bear right on the off-ramp. After the stop sign, use the left-turn lane to make a left onto Bunker Rd
• Continue straight. After the 5 minute tunnel, follow the main road for 3-4 miles.
• At the stop sign, you'll bear left and continue DOWN a short but steep hill.
• Drive to the end of the road. There will be a big parking lot next to the beach.
• Turn right and make the first right onto Edison St.
• Building 1062 is the fourth large white building on the left.

From Marin:

• Take HWY 101 S and exit on Alexander Avenue
• Make a sharp right onto Alexander Avenue
• After the stop sign, use the left-turn lane to make a left onto Bunker Rd
• Continue straight. After the 5 minute tunnel, follow the main road for 3-4 miles.
• At the stop sign, you'll bear left and continue DOWN a short but steep hill.
• Drive to the end of the road. There will be a big parking lot next to the beach.
• Turn right and make the first right onto Edison St.

Note there is limited cell phone reception in the Marin Headlands after you pass through the 5-minute tunnel.
